MADEIRAN DESSERTS AMONG THE 140 CANDIDATES TO THE “7 SWEET WONDERS OF PORTUGAL
Madeiran desserts among the 140 candidates to the “7 sweet wonders of Portugal”
The Madeiran desserts are among the 140 candidates (out of 907) which proceeded to the next stage of the “7 sweet wonders of Portugal” contest.
Currently, seven desserts for each district and autonomous regions are competing.
The desserts competing on behalf of the Madeira Island are, besides the queijadas [small sweet pastry made out of cheese] of Ribeira Brava: the Bolo de Mel [honey cake] (Funchal), Broa de mel-de-cana [sugar cane honey bread] (Funchal), Malassadas [sweet fried dough] (Santa Cruz), organic sugar cane honey (Funchal), classic sugar cane honey (Funchal) and the Fennel Candies (Funchal).
The final stage is scheduled for 7 September.
