Results of Carnival Tourism Survey Released
The results of the tourist satisfaction surveys for the 2017 Madeira Carnival celebrations were presented yesterday in the InfoArt space of the Regional Secretariat of Economy, Tourism and Culture.
The surveys were conducted at Madeira’s Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport and the island’s main hotels between 26 February and 6 March in order to better understand the opinions, experiences and spending habits of tourists visiting Madeira during Carnival.
The survey of respondents collected a wide sample of 533 paper-based questionnaires with a margin of error of 4.24%.
The results show that the Carnival of Madeira is well regarded by tourists visiting at that time and that 60% of all respondents had prior knowledge of the event.
The average overall satisfaction level with the Madeira Carnival experience was also very high, with a 76% rate of attendance at the main Saturday allegoric parade.
The survey was the result of collaboration between several different entities, including the Regional Directorate for Tourism, the Regional Directorate for Statistics, the Madeira Promotion Association, the ACIF commercial association and the University of Madeira’s Tourism Observatory.
