Volvo Ocean Race sails by Porto Santo
The event's official website confirmed that Porto Santo island is part of the route of the first stage that will link the Spanish city of Alicante to Lisbon. A decision that has much to do with the fact that the weather conditions along the coast are not very favorable, so the passage through the Atlantic Ocean allows a better choice for the seven teams that take part in this year's edition of Volvo Ocean Race, in a total of 1.450 nautical miles.
Contacts have been established in the past, between this region and this important regatta organization, as result of the work and connections that have been developed in the last two years, namely following the achievement of having in Madeira the Extreme Sailing Series acts.
