Madeira nominated for "World´s Leading Island Destination"
After being elected last June "Europe´s Leading island destination" , Madeira Islands is now competing for world title at the World Travel Awards in the category of "World´s Leading Island Destination".
Among the nominees in this category include other tourist destinations, namely Ambergris Caye (Belize), Bali (Indonesia), Barbados, the Cook Islands, Cozumel (Mexico), Crete (Greece), Fiji, Hawaii, Jamaica, the Maldives, Mauritius, the Seychelles, Sicily (Italy), Santa Lucia, Turks & Caicos and Zanzibar (Tanzania), in a voting process that will take place between September,10th and October,24th.
Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards honour the best examples of good practices in the tourism sector worldwide.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for 1st December in Lisbon (Portugal).
The only national hotel facility nominated in the category " Best Design Hotel in the World" will be the madeiran hotel "The Vine" that has recently awarded " Best Design Hotel of Europe" 2018.
