Restaurants Il Gallo d’Oro and William renew their Michelin stars
The Il Gallo d'Oro restaurant of the Porto Bay Group and the William restaurant of the Belmond Reid's Palace hotel are once again distinguished with two stars and one star from the Michelin Guide, the most prestigious award for the world-class restaurant sector.
The Il Gallo d'Oro gourmet restaurant, awarded for the first time in 2009, under the direction of the renowned French chef Benoît Sinthon, presents as an example, the refinement of the aromatic cuisine of Mediterranean and Iberian inspiration, in which the fresh produce of Madeira plays a fundamental role, combined with high quality ingredients from various other regions of the Iberian Peninsula.
On the other hand, the William restaurant, headed by the Madeiran chef Luís Pestana and supervised by chef Joachim Koerper, was awarded for the fourth time, becoming the second restaurant in Madeira to receive this distinction.
This distinction was revealed in Seville, during the presentation of the 2020 edition of the guide for Portugal and Spain, which distinguished 27 Portuguese restaurants, increasing the number of two-star restaurants to seven and maintaining 20 establishments with one star, in a gala that marked the celebration of the 110th anniversary of the launch of the 'Iberian guide'.
