John Dos Passos Cultural Centre
Located at the center of Ponta do Sol the John do Passos cultural centre was founded in tribute of this portuguese descendant and renowed writer, a facility which displays various exhibit rooms, a library and an auditorium.
This project began in 1996 year which marks the centenary of John dos Passos's birth and the foundation of this cultural centre. This property, was acquired later in 2000 by the Regional Government of Madeira, a building which at the time belonged to Maria Amália Pitta Telles.
This centre has spaces which host temporary exhibits, a permanent exhibition room dedicated to John Dos Passos, two museum spaces that can be visited at all times, a VIP room, a library that also includes the extensive work of the author and an auditorium where a wide range of cultural activities are held, devoted tomusic, dance and theatre.
This centre also hosts temporary exhibits, seminars and conferences with particular reference to the annual simposium dedicated to John dos Passos.
