Officilly opened in 2004, Calheta, was, in fact, the village in Madeira, featuring an artificial yellow sandy beach, with sand imported directly from Morroco.
This beach has a extension of about 100 m long, flanked by two sloped breakwaters as a form of protection.
Located near the Marina, it features a sunbathing area of about 7,300 m2.
It is often sought out by canoers and windsurfers.
Lounge chair and beach umbrella rentals are available.
